This paper compares the prayers of ordination of a bishop in the Byzantine Euchologion Barberini and the Roman Sacramentarium Veronense. In particular, this study examines the prayers' anamnetic and epicletic sections to articulate the theologies expressed regarding the episcopacy - the role of God in the ordination, as well as the bishop's functions, relationship to other Orders, and relationship to the Church.
